This weekend, CIYC hosted two of their annual races, the Women's Skippers Race and the CIYC Day Race.
Twelve boats participated in Saturday’s Women’s Skippers Race. A light wind day called for a short course and a wind shift mid-race made for two upwind legs. Congratulations to Avalanche for winning the spinnaker division. Eagle took non-spinnaker honors while Megan Gatten steered HYC’s Scout to an impressive second place. Shout out to Harlan Sexton helming Tequila, the other HYC boat to participate in the race.
Sunday's Day Race started out with a postponement due to lack of wind. Luckily for the sailors, it filled in getting up to ten knots by mid race. Race committee picked a four mark course spanning from Milton Point to Hart Island. There were a total of ten boats. Soulmate took home first place in the spinnaker division while Scout, skippered by Matt Stainback, brought home the gold for Harlem. Special shout out to Muxie Duxer, the other HYC boat to join the fun.
Thank you CIYC race committee for hosting two great races!
